Born and raised in the southeast, Andrea grew up spending time between her mother's house in Atlanta, Ga. and her grandparents' house in Jacksonville, Fla.
She went to Georgia Southern University from 2000 to 2003, before moving to Jacksonville for an internship at WAWS/WTEV, the FOX and CBS duopoly. That experience quickly turned into a career as a full-time assignment editor, then web producer.
During her four years with the Jacksonville station, Andrea attended the University of North Florida and earned her bachelor's degree in communications.
She moved to Phoenix, Ariz. in 2007, and worked as an assignment editor at KSAZ-TV, a FOX O&O station.
In 2008, Andrea accepted a position as a writer/fill-in producer at the CBS affiliate (KPHO) in Phoenix. She wrote for the station's most important newscast, the 10 p.m. show, and she often produced 30-minute newscasts.
In November 2009, Andrea moved back to Florida and became an associate news producer at WESH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Orlando.
But, a few months later, in February 2010, Andrea was offered her dream job as a producer for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Ga. She currently produces "Weekend Now" and "Day Planner."
Andrea has a passion for anything weather-related and has been a self-proclaimed "weather nerd" since high school. She is a trained severe weather spotter with the National Weather Service and is experienced in covering hurricanes. Andrea also enjoyed her time out west, experiencing the Arizona monsoon. And, in June 2009, she co-produced KPHO's 30-minute monsoon special.
