About Me

Born and raised in the southeast, Andrea grew up spending time between her mother’s house in Atlanta, Ga. and her grandparents’ house in Jacksonville, Fla.

She went to Georgia Southern University from 2000 to 2003, before moving to Jacksonville for an internship at WAWS/WTEV, the FOX and CBS duopoly.  That experience quickly turned into a career as a full-time assignment editor, then web producer.

During her four years with the Jacksonville station, Andrea attended the University of North Florida and earned her bachelor’s degree in communications.

She moved to Phoenix, Ariz. in 2007, where she worked as an assignment editor at KSAZ, a FOX O&O station.

But, in 2008, Andrea followed her passion for writing and accepted a position as a writer/fill-in news producer at the CBS affiliate (KPHO) in Phoenix.  She wrote for the station’s most important newscast, the 10 p.m. show, and she often produced 30-minute newscasts.

In November 2009, Andrea moved back to Florida became an associate news producer at WESH, the NBC affiliate in Orlando.

Andrea also has a passion for anything weather-related.  She is a self-proclaimed “weather nerd,” and has been ever since she was in high school.  In October 2009, she became the Tampa Weather Examiner, a freelance writer for the Examiner.com.  Andrea is a trained severe weather spotter with the National Weather Service, and she is experienced in covering hurricanes.  She also enjoyed her time out west, experiencing the Arizona monsoon.  And, in June 2009, she co-produced KPHO’s 30-minute monsoon special.
